Abstract

Stroke remains a leading cause of mortality and long-term disability worldwide, underscoring the importance of timely and effective reperfusion therapy. As the field of acute stroke management continues to evolve, intravenous thrombolysis is increasingly transitioning from a one-size-fits-all intervention toward a more individualized, precision-based treatment strategy.

In this lecture, Dr Anna Ramos-Pachón will examine how emerging clinical evidence is shaping contemporary stroke guidelines and influencing real-world practice. Drawing on her experience in guideline development and participation in major international stroke trials, she will provide insights into how expert committees assess new data, balance benefit-risk considerations across diverse patient populations, and establish recommendations that guide clinical decision-making.

The session will also explore the critical role of integrated stroke care systems, focusing on how prehospital triage models, streamlined emergency pathways, and coordinated multidisciplinary networks can reduce treatment delays and improve patient outcomes. In addition, advances in precision thrombolysis will be discussed, including the use of advanced imaging technologies, optimized thrombolytic delivery strategies, and workflow innovations designed to support rapid treatment initiation.

By integrating evidence-based medicine, stroke network optimization, and emerging precision approaches, this lecture will highlight practical strategies to expand access to reperfusion therapy, maximize clinical benefit, and further improve outcomes for patients with acute ischemic stroke.

Speaker

Dr Anna Ramos-Pachón is a stroke neurologist and clinical researcher at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona, Spain. Her expertise spans acute stroke care, intracerebral haemorrhage, prehospital stroke triage, and endovascular therapies. She serves on the European Stroke Organisation (ESO) Guideline Board and has contributed to several landmark international stroke trials, including RACECAT, CHOICE, and SELECT-2. Dr Ramos-Pachón has authored more than 45 peer-reviewed publications and is recognized for her contributions to advancing evidence-based stroke care and improving patient outcomes.

ALL are welcome to attend. We look forward to seeing you.
